Because knowing what's coming isn't the same as controlling what's coming. If you had both, it probably wouldn't be an issue, though. Do you, usually? Or do you just have the script?

How much can you patch? Can you change things up entirely?

... Aoi can't change the narrative completely. The story is still the story and the characters are still the characters.

But Aoi can adjust small things.

Even small things would probably help. But for most of their lives, humans don't have a whole lot of real control. It makes things really hard for them.
